This is the time to get your body moving mindfully. Whether you have committed yourself to yoga classes, working out at the gym, running, walking, swimming, etc., it doesn't matter so much. What matters is that you do your physical activity with mindfulness. Whatever your body is doing, harness your mind to be engaged in that activity. Initially work on being one-minded, keep your mind engaged with the task at hand and learn how to concentrate.
Concentration is so valuable and necessary for being healthy physically, emotionally and mentally. Very few of us continue to hone our skill of concentration. Learn how to focus even in times when you feel bored. There is always some gift that is being presented to you in the here and now. When you concentrate, notice what you are tensing in your body. For instance, many of us hold our breath or furrow our brow unnecessarily. We can not only learn how to focus better but also how to focus without tension. Being mindful of your body and its posture is always beneficial and being mindful of your breath can be downright life changing. T
he asana(yoga postures) and pranayama(breath channeling) are two direct methods of studying your posture and your breath. From these studies, the constant observation of your breath and your posture becomes possible and joyful.
