Climb your way home
If you live on the second floor or above, make it a habit to use the stairs at least part of the way. Run a contest in the family to find out who climbed more stairs each week. Soon you may even want to try a vertical marathon.
Get fit while you watch
No time to exercise? The time that you spend watching TV can become time for family fitness. Get you body moving with simple stretching exercises. Sit-ups or stationary cycling during the show or during commercial breaks can help you and your family burn off excess calories. All this without even leaving the comforts of home.
Or turn off that TV!
Is your family time spent only in front of the TV? Turn off the TV for a change. Play a game with your family members, cycle in the park or go for a swim. You will have more fun and a chance to find out more about each other’s day.
Relax and recharge
After a good day’s work, take a physical and mental break. Join your family for a walk or jog before or after dinner, or just play in the park. You can clear your mind as well as catch up on one another’s day. This is particularly helpful if your child is preparing for examinations - a short break outdoors for a walk or jog with you can do wonders for relieving his tired mind.
