Create a supportive environment for any smoker in your family to quit. Exercise regularly together. Have plenty of fresh fruits available and offer them to him/her when he/ she feels like lighting up. Make your home a smoke-free zone.
Have at least 8 glasses of fluid a day. Water is best. Develop the habit in kids, so that they stay away from sweetened, carbonated drinks. Water does not have to be boring add crushed ice and lime slices, and you have a refreshing drink - it is great for your body too.
When you do the weekly shopping, avoid lifts and escalators in the MRT or shopping centres. Use the stairs and walk when you can. Keep it up and you’ll be surprised how fit you can get. And when you pick up food items you need, read the labels and make healthier choices.
